Inside the Rebellion of Saints

this is for all the kids who glow in the dark. I'm the narrator and this is just the prologue.

Why I chose to stand up for LIFE (from a Scientific perspective)

Question received in ask box:
why are you pro-life? I mean, what exactly is so wrong about the idea of killing an unthinking, unfeeling, unknowing first-trimester fetus by aborting it? As long as the mother has a valid reason for getting an abortion, and as long as she has looked into all of the other options (those being adoption and motherhood), I can’t see why anyone would be against the mother getting an abortion. I mean, why does it matter what others do with their lives, as long as they’re following the law?

My response:
Hello! Thanks for being so persistent about your questions! I am very honored to answer them, and I will do the best I can to do that. I’m sorry you feel like I have been ignoring you, but in truth I have been very eager to answer your questions. But I am a student & I am super busy with tests/exams, ect. I’m sure you can relate. I also wanted to take some time to truly think about how I was going to answer you. Your questions touched on a lot of different subjects, and I wanted to make sure I could give you the thorough answers you deserve. :) But my apologies for taking so long!

-here goes-

First off, did you know that the word ‘fetus’ is actually Latin, meaning “little one”? I find that to be quite amazing. If it was an “unthinking, unfeeling, unknowing” thing, then why would it mean “little one”? I see where you are coming from though. And honestly I’ve asked some of these questions myself.

For a long time slavery was legal. Of course we all know that it is illegal now, and terribly wrong. But wasn’t it wrong from the beginning? Is it anymore wrong/right now that it is illegal? Just because something is lawful, doesn’t necessarily mean that it is morally just.
If one shoots and kills pregnant woman & the child within her dies, the shooter will go to jail for a double homicide. It is against the law to shoot a pregnant woman. But it’s legal to have an abortion, yes. I feel that is contradictory. If it is just tissue, then why is the person charged with a double murder?

From the moment of conception, a fetus has all the DNA it needs to live or be a “potential human”.

The first trimester is a period between conception up to 12 weeks. This is the fetal development that takes place during that time: at 21 days the fetus’s heartbeat can be detected, at 6 weeks brain waves are detected, by 9 weeks the fetus has fingernails, the nervous system begins developing at 8 weeks (so the fetus can feel pain - and abortion is no exception), at 9 weeks a fetus can bend its hand & suck its thumb, at 11 weeks it is breathing & using its lungs, and at 12 weeks it can kick, turn over, make a fist, open its mouth & move its lips. That’s quite remarkable!

On average, a woman discovers she’s pregnant between 8 to 10 weeks. As you can see, by that time the fetus has already gone through major stages of development.

Recently I was interested in the pro-life movement & I wanted to understand it. Why are people pro-life? So I decided to start by reading up on each method of abortion. I was shocked to find out that what is perceived as a “common medical procedure” is quite barbaric & inhumane. It was infuriating.

The most common abortion procedure for a first trimester fetus is suction (vacuum) aspiration. In this method the cervix is dilated and a hollow plastic tube with a sharp tip is inserted into the cervix & then into the uterus. An aspirator attached to the tube tears the body of the fetus apart & suctions the pieces through the tube. Another method is the dilation and curettage abortion which is when a curette (a sharp looped knife) is inserted into the uterus to scrape its walls. The curette is then used to dismember the fetus and placenta. Another form is intracardiac injection. In this form of abortion, a needle is guided into the fetus’ heart with the aid of ultrasound, and poison (often potassium chloride or dioxin) is injected, causing an immediate heart attack.

I could go on, but since you mainly focused on 1st trimester abortions, I will too.

As I’m sure you know, Planned Parenthood is the leading provider of abortion services. It’s a multimillion dollar organization. But did you know that before each abortion they perform an ultra-sound? Also did you know that the woman is not allowed to see her own ultrasound? Want to know why? Former abortionist Dr. Joseph Randall said that pregnant women were “never allowed to look at the ultrasound because we knew that if they so much as heard the heartbeat, they wouldn’t want to have the abortion.” Abortion is a pretty large money making business, and Planned Parenthood doesn’t want to lose money by any means. It is wrong to withhold these rights from a woman. I don’t understand why more feminists don’t rise up & protest for women’s rights.

Who’s the victim here? There are 2 victims in an abortion: the mother and the child. And the victimizer is making money while silencing the victim! Every day on national average 3315 abortions are performed. Did you know on September 11th 2001 more lives were lost in abortion then those that were lost in the fall of the Twin Towers? It’s true. Everyday abortionists are making money off of women just like you and me. For this very reason, I believe that true feminists are pro-life.

And there aren’t even enough children to give to couples seeking adoption! Only 40,000 babies are given up for adoption, in comparison to the approximately 600,000 couples actively seeking an adoption. And if we keep this up, the United States will be faced with a serious under-population problem. There’s not enough children being born to repopulate the next generation.

Also did you know that the founder of Planned Parenthood (founded in 1916), Margaret Sanger, was not only racist but anti-Semite? She wanted to eliminate blacks from the United States. And thanks to her organization, that is close to becoming a reality. African American women make up 14% of the female population, and 30% of abortions. Hispanic women are 15.8% of the female population and have 25% of abortions. According to an updated census reports in 2008, African Americans are no longer the largest US minority population. Abortion and population control have taken a devastating toll on the African American & Hispanic communities.

Women are exploited and killed by abortion every day. There are hundreds of documented cases of women bleeding to death due to undergoing an abortion procedure. Because of abortion, women have died of a punctured uterus, massive blood loss, shock, septic infections, cardiopulmonary arrest, lacerated intestines, ruptured uteruses, hemorrhaging, punctured cervixes, preborn fetus’s bones/tissue left in the vagina/uterus, intra-abdominal abscesses, hepatitis B, due to unsanitary abortion equipment, and septicemia (a fast acting blood infection due to a botched abortion), to name a few. All of these were legal abortions that took place after the legalization of abortion in 1973. So, obviously legalized abortion hasn’t necessarily meant that more women are getting these procedures done safely.

The percentage of women with post abortive depression and even suicide is astounding. I found a quote from a Glamour magazine survey interesting: When Glamour magazine asked  readers to send in thoughts on abortion, 3000 women responded. Many were once pro-choice and 420 had had an abortion. In February 1994, Glamour reported that, “Virtually all of those who’d had abortions in the past said that if they’d only known how much they’d regret having an abortion after the fact, they never would have agreed to the procedure.” This is a popular, non-religious, secular publication.

Also did you know, according to the National Cancer Institute, we have found links between breast cancer and abortion? Abortion increases a woman’s chances of breast cancer. (check out www.abortionbreastcancer.com)

In 1973 abortion was made legal & settled by the case of “Roe vs. Wade”. Did you know that now almost every one of those driving forces behind the decision to make abortion legal in this country, are now the leading global speakers & advocates for the pro-life movement? Norma McCorvey, the woman behind “Roe” of Roe vs. Wade, has now come forth and made a public statement that she fabricated her facts about abortion to push the movement so she could terminate her own pregnancy. She says that her entire argument was founded on lies & exaggerated facts. She says & I quote, “The public had certain misgivings about abortion in the early seventies, but there was much greater acceptance of abortion in cases of rape, so even though I wasn’t really raped, I thought saying so would garner greater public support. This means that the abortion case that destroyed every state law protecting the unborn was based on a lie.” (source “Won by Love” written by Norma McCorvey).

For these and many reasons, I am proud to say that I am passionately pro-life.
